Welcome to Portugal

Lisbon

Lisbon is older than Rome! Founded around 1200 BC, it’s one of Europe’s oldest cities and has seen a blend of Phoenician, Roman, and Moorish cultures over the centuries.

Interesting fact: Portugal was at the forefront of the Age of Discoveries in the 15th and 16th centuries. Explorers like Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan set sail from Portuguese shores, paving the way for global exploration and trade.

Country Overview

Portugal, located on the Iberian Peninsula, shares its northern and eastern borders solely with Spain, while its southern and western shores embrace the vast Atlantic Ocean (with a coastline stretching 1,793 km).

The country also includes two picturesque archipelagos: Madeira and the Azores. Covering over 92,000 sq. km, Portugal is home to around 10 million people, with Lisbon as its capital and largest city, housing about half a million residents.
